Uncle Tyler Visits and Snowcation!

Tyler came to visit over MLK weekend and Jarrett was very happy to see him.  Jarrett was quick to warm up to Tyler and soon realized he was another playmate!

We took Jarrett to the zoo. Jarrett was happy to walk around with Tyler  chasing him. He was very excited to see the lions up close and personal!

The next day we went to the aquarium. Jarrett rode in the backpack for most of the time as it was very crowded. I am pretty sure he had a better view from up there anyways. We saw our first snow of the season on the way back to the car.

Jarrett enjoyed having Tyler to play with (and we of course enjoyed his visit). He was sad to see Tyler leave and even cried some big tears when Tyler got out of the car and said, "Goodbye!" 

The following week we got a record 29.2 inches of snow and we have now been out of work for 6 days! We enjoyed all the time we got to spend with Jarrett. He seems to be at an age where he is very teachable and is learning  a lot. He understands a ton- when prompted, he can hang up his coat, throw something about, bring us a certain toy or book we ask for, go brush his teeth, get us a diaper and so much more. He has been trying to sing along to some nursery rhymes lately, complete with hand actions, like Itsy Bitsy Spider. He also learned a few body parts, like nose, belly, mouth and ears. 

We were fortunately able to get out of the house soon after the storm was over. To keep busy, we let Jarrett run around Target and play with all the toys.

We went to "Open Play" at a gym near us, which Jarrett enjoyed. He especially liked the cozy coupe (and didn't want anyone else to use it) and the bounce house.

We attempted to go to story time at Greetings and Readings, but Jarrett just wanted to run around and play with the giant stuffed animals.

We tried out a few new pinterest activities. Putting Qtips in a bottle and pipe cleaners in a colander were a hit. (For some reason he kept wanting to put on that hat). He also loves playing in his room lately.

And of course, we ventured out into the snow. Jarrett wasn't thrilled to walk in it, but enjoyed riding around in his sled.

The library and Barnes and Nobles also continue to be favorite places to run around.

 We are sad to be leaving Jarrett and heading  back to work tomorrow but 6 days has probably been enough time for our students to be at home!
