Wrapping up 2016- Part 2

(That last post was getting a little long, so I decided to break it up.)

Christmas finally arrived, and thanks to Peppa Pig and the many stories we read about Christmas, Jarrett was ready.

We had a nice Christmas Eve dinner at home and then went and checked out some Christmas lights in the neighborhood. June fell asleep, but Jarrett enjoyed the ride and was often yelling, "Look! Look! Christmas!" from the back seat.

The next morning, Jarrett was excited to see his Tonka Truck from Santa. He helped Harper and June open their presents. He loved picking them out from under the tree and asking, "For Jarrett?" It was a long morning of opening presents because he actually played with everything he got right away. (Which was nice, we were in no rush!)

Some of the favorite toys were the Tonka truck (both June and Jarrett enjoy this), Magna-tiles for Jarrett (we keep having to build a house for giraffe) and the new train set. June was happy with all her toys as well, but seems more interested in playing with whatever Jarrett doesn't want her to be playing with.

We went to Aunt Chris's later in the day for dinner. Jarrett was really excited about more presents and was happy to play with his cousins again!

We celebrated New Year's Eve at home. Our neighbors always put on a professional grade fireworks show. We actually went to bed early, but knew we would be getting up for the fireworks at midnight. We made the terrible mistake of thinking Jarrett might sleep through them. Instead he was scared out of his sleep and still hasn't quite recovered. We took him to the window to see them, and that seemed okay. Although we got lots of, "Sky...scary...loud." But just as he was settling, some other neighbors started setting off some random really LOUD fireworks every few minutes. So we would just get him calm, when another would go off. Needless to say, Jarrett was not happy. For the next few nights we had quite a difficult time getting him to go to bed and he kept asking if it was over and pointing to the sky.
