June seems to have gone through a major growth spurt and is fitting nicely in size 18m clothes. Amazingly, the pants don't even seem that long! She is cruising on the furniture but has yet to take any independent steps. She can, however, climb all the way to the top of our steps on her own! We have to remember to close all the baby gates again now!
The thing she is most interested in is Jarrett. All the time Jarrett. She has to know where he is and what he is doing at all times. She won't even go to bed until she sees Jarrett in his crib, gives him a kiss and waves bye. (I put Jarrett in his bed and he reads books until I come back after putting June to bed). So far, this is really the only thing that has worked as far as getting her to bed. Jarrett is equally as interested in June, but gets very frustrated when she tries to take apart his train tracks or knock down his blocks. She just will not leave him alone and play with something else. We have quite the toy battles going on.
June likes her solid food (mostly fruits, noodles, muffins, crackers, cheese, beans, scrambled eggs, peas & carrots) but has yet to take to any kind of meat. I'm not sure if it is texture or what, but we have had no success on getting her to eat any meat. We have tried deli turkey, ground turkey, small pieces of chicken, taco meat, and meatballs. All with no success.
I'd like to tell you she is sleeping a good 12 hours a night like Jarrett was at this point, but we aren't even close. June will go to bed around 7:30 and wake up anywhere between 12 and 4. And to make matters even more distressing, sometimes we can't get her to go back to bed for hours. She wants to play and boop your nose or grab your ear. We haven't quite figured out how to fix this! Some nights she does manage to sleep until 5am when I get up. We were headed in the right direction but then she had 2 teeth come in that totally derailed everything. She also doesn't want to nap at any sort of scheduled or convenient time. I think because she is so interested in what Jarrett is doing and what is going on! Because of her lack of napping, she will often fall asleep in the car or has even fallen asleep while eating a meal! We are really hoping that we can get June on a better sleeping schedule as it is surely making us all a little crazy (and tired).
She likes to talk and sing. She sings along with Jarrett in the car, mimicking the sounds. It's pretty funny. She also says "Hello?" when she picks up a toy phone and Jamal said she started to say, "Harper." We still also have "uh oh, mama and dada." She tried to mimic our sounds a lot but hasn't quite gotten the actual words down.
She loves her touch and feel books, stuffed animals (especially if they are Jarrett's), pushing around cars, knocking down blocks and eating everything she picks up off the floor (which is so frustrating!!!) She has a toy piano she really likes to bang on, as well as some drums and anything else that makes noise. She also has taken to pulling things out of buckets and bags. Her favorite activity is to dig through my work bag until she finds my wristlet and then crawl all over the house with it!
