Long Weekends and Catching Up

We've enjoyed two long weekends recently. The first due to MLK day, the 2nd due to me taking a much needed day off. Work has been especially busy and stressful, so I was very happy to have an extra day to regroup and spend time with Jarrett and Jamal.

On MLK weekend, Jarrett and I visited Elizabeth and Isaac. Jarrett enjoyed checking out all Isaac's toys and seeing his friend. He was a little jealous that  he didn't get to enjoy the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup that Isaac had, but we didn't think his stomach would be quite ready for that yet.  It's fun seeing Isaac because since Isaac is a few months older than Jarrett, I can get a preview of what we have to come. I remember the last time we saw Isaac, he was reaching for  toys and his movements were so much more intentional than Jarrett's. Now Jarrett can also grasp things he wants and control his movements. This time, Isaac was crawling around all over the place and sitting up to play with his toys. While Jarrett hasn't quite mastered sitting up, he's working on it!

As usual, we also spent some time running errands. Jarrett really likes to go places and look around. We realized on our trip to Kohl's that we forgot his stroller, so we used the one they had. He seemed to enjoy the new view, though we were a little worried he was a bit too small for it.

I wish we could spend more time taking him on outings during the week, but he is a stickler for his schedule and wants to take a catnap every night when I get him from daycare. Then he just plays for a bit, has dinner, a bath and heads to bed by 7:00. So, we don't have much time for weekday fun.

He's been continuing to try new foods, and has had: peas, carrots, green beans, prunes, peaches, sweet potatoes and his new favorites- bananas.

He also likes to practice a little piano before dinner.

On Friday, we went to his 6 month doctor's appointment. Looks like his growth is slowing down some. Maybe we can get some more wear out of a few outfits before he outgrows them! The doctor said he was looking good and he handled his shots fairly well. 

He is beginning to enjoy playing with his toys more and still likes to look at books. He even helps to turn the pages. He also enjoyed helping fold the laundry this week and hanging out with his friend, Harper.
